Ignition Coil Testing

  1. Check for continuity between B+ terminal and base of ignition coil. See Figure . Continuity should not exist. If resistance is not infinite, replace coil.
  2. Measure resistance between B+ terminal and C- terminal. Resistance should be approximately 0.5 ohm. If resistance is not as specified, replace coil.
  3. Measure resistance between C+ terminal and coil secondary terminal. If resistance is infinite (open circuit), replace coil.
