DTC 41: Last Transmitter Message Received Valid: Testing

  1. Enter self-diagnostics. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Depress any button on remote control door lock transmitter. If DTC 41 sets, go to step  5 . If DTC 41 does not set, go to next step.
  2. Program a known-good transmitter to communicate with BCM. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING/SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING. Enter self-diagnostics. Depress any button on remote control door lock transmitter. If DTC 41 sets, go to next step. If DTC 41 does not set, go to step  4 .
  3. Check for bad battery in original transmitter. If battery is okay, replace transmitter.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Attempt to perform all functions controlled by remote control door lock transmitter (door locks, trunk release, alarm). If transmitter controls all functions, system is okay at this time. If all functions cannot be controlled, repair remote keyless entry system as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
