Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Perform following steps to enter BCM diagnostic mode:

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  3. Remove RADIO fuse (No. 17) from instrument panel fuse block.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM sounds 1-2 warning tones.
  5. Within 5 seconds, turn ignition to OFF position, then immediately (within one second) back to ACC position.
  6. BCM sounds 3 warning tones.

BCM will begin flashing codes 4 seconds after entering diagnostic mode. DTCs are displayed as two digit codes, each quick set of flashes representing one digit. For example, one flash followed by 2 quick flashes represents code 12. DTCs are displayed in numerical order with each code being displayed 3 times before moving to next code. DTCs 12 and 55 are always present. DTCs starting with "3" are history codes. For more code information, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
