Position Encoding Switch: Notes

Sunroof Positioning Encoding Switch (PES) is aligned to sunroof drive cables. PES switch comes from factory set to glass panel CLOSED position. A position lock pin has been installed on top of PES switch. Pin must remain until after installation of sunroof actuator and PES switch. Lock pins lock drive gears in place and must be removed before operation of sunroof module.

If reusing PES switch, place sunroof glass panel in CLOSED position. Install Sunroof Timing Pins (J41718). Install position lock pin, or install 2 wires, such as the ends of a paper clip, then remove PES switch from sunroof module. PES switch timing will be lost if procedure is not followed. PES timing will have to be reset. See TRACK AND MOTOR SYNCHRONIZATION  under ADJUSTMENTS.
