DTC B3102: Keyless Entry Data Link Circuit Low: Testing

  1. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was not performed, see REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Using scan tool, observe status of DTC B3102. If DTC B3102 displays as current, go to next step. If DTC B3102 does not display as current, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems. See PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) module 6-pin harness connector. RCLDR is located at center of instrument panel, under trim panel near defroster vent. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C1 terminal A10. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  5.
  4. Check for short to ground in Light Green wire between BCM harness connector C1 terminal A10 and DLC terminal No. 2. See DATA LINK CONNECTOR article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9. If no problem is found, go to step  6.
  5. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in RCDLR module harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9. If no problem is found, go to step  7.
  6. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in BCM harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9. If no problem is found, go to step  8.
  7. Replace RCDLR module. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  9.
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  9. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within code enable criteria. If DTC does not reset, system is okay. If DTC resets, go to step  2.
