Test A: Panic Mode Inoperative

  1. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was not performed, see REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  2. Using remote transmitter attempt to operate alarm function. If horns do not sound and headlight and parking lights do not flash, go to next step. If horns sound and headlight and parking lights flash, check for intermittent or poor connections. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems. See PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS.
  3. If any alarm functions operate, go to next step. If any alarm functions do not operate, see TEST B: KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE .
  4. If horns sound, perform lighting systems diagnostic systems check. See LIGHTING SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - ALERO & GRAND AM article. If horns do not sound, perform horn systems diagnostic systems check. See HORN SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - ALERO & GRAND AM article.
