Test F: Traction Off Indicator Inoperative

Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe Traction Switch parameter in Body Control Module data list. If Traction Switch parameter changes state, see INTERMITTENT & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If Traction Switch parameter does not change state, go to next step.
Turn ignition off. Disconnect traction control switch connector. Connect a fused jumper wire from traction control switch harness connector to a good ground. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe Traction Switch parameter. If scan tool displays ON, go to step 5. If scan tool does not display ON, go to next step.
Test traction control switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. See INTERMITTENT & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Repair circuit as necessary, then go to step 10. If condition was not found, go to step 6.
Test traction control switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Repair circuit as necessary, then go to step 10. If condition was not found, go to step 7.
Inspect for poor connections at BCM harness connector. Repair as necessary, then go to step 10. If condition was not found, go to step 8.
Inspect for poor connections at traction control switch harness connector. Repair as necessary, then go to step 10. If condition was not found, go to step 9.
Replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULE article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Go to step 10.
Replace traction control switch. See TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
Operate system in order to verify repair. If condition is corrected, system is okay. If condition is not corrected, go to step 2.
