Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, record FAILURE RECORDS data for reference, then clear DTCs. Using scan tool, observe TCC brake switch parameter. If scan tool displays CLOSED, problem is intermittent. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove fuse from ignition 1 voltage circuit (fuse is located in underhood fuse/relay block). Check fuse. If fuse is open, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  5.
  4. Repair short to ground in Pink wire between TCC brake switch and fuse block. After repairs, replace fuse, then go to step  10.
  5. Disconnect TCC brake switch harness connector. Connect fused jumper wire between TCC brake switch harness connector terminals "C" (Pink wire) and "D" (Purple wire). Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, observe brake switch parameter. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to step  8. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Check for open in Pink wire between fuse block and TCC brake switch. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  10. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  7. Check for open in Purple wire between PCM harness connector C1 terminal No. 30 and TCC brake switch harness connector terminal "D". Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  10. If circuit is okay, go to step  9.
  8. Replace TCC brake switch. After replacing switch, go to step  10.
  9. Replace PCM. Program replacement PCM using required equipment. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
  10. Using scan tool, select DTC. Select CLEAR INFO. Turn ignition on, with engine off. TCC brake switch must display CLOSED (pedal released) for more than 2 seconds. Select SPECIFIC DTC. Enter DTC P0719. If test runs and passes, system is okay. If DTC resets, go to step  1.
