Remote Control Door Lock Receiver: Installation

CAUTION: Use correct fastener in correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in service procedures. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage fastener. Use correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to part and systems.
  1. Position RCDLR to upper instrument panel. Connect RCDLR electrical connectors.
  2. Position defroster grille to upper instrument panel. Connect DRL sensor to defroster grille. Verify that DRL sensor wiring harness will not be pinched when defroster grille is installed. Starting at left side, install defroster grille retainers into upper instrument panel. Continue working to right until all of retainers are installed.
  3. Install a new clip retainer to upper side rail, if necessary. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to front door carpet retainer and to front door weatherstrip. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to trough on upper instrument panel trim panel. Align windshield pillar garnish molding retainers to windshield pillar. Slide roof leg under center pillar trim panel. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to clip retainers on upper side rail. Install windshield pillar garnish molding, applying pressure at all retainers until fully seated.
  4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Program and synchronize transmitters to new RCDLR. See RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  and TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING.

NOTE: When installing rear seat bolts on Monte Carlo, anti-rotation tab must be in proper hole in rear shelf.
  1. Position RCDLR to upper instrument panel. Connect RCDLR electrical connectors. Engage RCDLR retainers.
  2. Position defroster grille to upper instrument panel. Connect DRL sensor to defroster grille. Verify that DRL sensor wiring harness will not be pinched when defroster grille is installed. Starting at left side, install defroster grille retainers into upper instrument panel. Continue working to right until all of retainers are installed.
  3. Install new upper side rail clip retainer and screw if removed, to upper side rail. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to front door carpet retainer and front door weatherstrip. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to trough on upper instrument panel trim panel. Align windshield pillar garnish molding retainers to windshield pillar. Align windshield pillar garnish molding to clip retainers on upper side rail. Install windshield pillar garnish molding, applying pressure at all retainers locations until fully seated.
  4. Install coat hook into headliner. Install push-in retainer pressing into place until fully seated.
  5. Install rear seat belt retractor bolt. Tighten rear seat belt retractor bolt to 50 lbs ft (68 Nm). Install rear seat belt anchor bolt. Tighten rear seat belt anchor bolt to 31 lbs ft (42 Nm).
  6. Align rear quarter upper trim panel slotted retainers to rear quarter lower trim panel. Align rear quarter upper trim panel push-in retainers to rear quarter inner upper panel. Install rear quarter upper trim panel push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure at all push-in retainers locations.
  7. Slide rear window trim panel rearward to engage integral hook in retaining hole. Lift rear window trim panel and route seat belts through slots in rear window trim panel. Install push-in retainers in front of rear window trim panel.
  8. Position rear seat back to vehicle. Reposition seat belts to rear seat back. Install nuts to rear seat retainer at bottom of rear seat back. Fold rear seat back cushions down. Install rear seat latches to rear seat back. Install rear seat back latch bolts to rear seat latches. Fold rear seat back cushions up. Inspect rear seat for proper operation.
  9. Align seat belts to notches in rear seat cushion. Position rear seat cushion to retainers. Install rear seat cushion to retainers, engaging right side first. Inspect rear seat cushion for proper installation.
  10. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Program and synchronize transmitters to new RCDLR. See RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  and TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING.

  6. Align rear quarter upper trim panel slotted retainers to rear quarter lower trim panel. Align rear quarter upper trim panel push-in retainers to rear quarter inner upper panel. Install rear quarter upper trim panel push-in retainers, applying pressure to secure at all push-in retainers locations.
  7. Slide rear window trim panel rearward to engage integral hook in retaining hole. Lift rear window trim panel and route seat belts through slots in rear window trim panel. Install push-in retainers in front of rear window trim panel.
  8. Position rear seat back to vehicle. Hook seat back upper frame to hangers on rear shelf.
  9. Align seat belts to notches in rear seat cushion. Position rear seat cushion to retainers. Install rear seat cushion to retainers, engaging right side first. Inspect rear seat cushion for proper installation.
  10. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Program and synchronize transmitters to new RCDLR. See RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  and TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING.
