30-Minute Relearn Procedure

NOTE: This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with option code (Z49). If replacing theft deterrent control module with an GM SPO replacement part, perform procedure to setup new theft deterrent control module prior to the 30-minute relearn procedure.

Use this procedure after replacing following components:

  1. With a master PASS-key® III, turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  2. Observe SECURITY indicator, after approximately 10 minutes indicator will turn off.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, and wait 5 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
  5. NOTE: Vehicle learns key transponder information and/or passwords on ignition switch transition from OFF to START. Ignition switch must be cycled OFF before attempting to start vehicle.
  6. With a master PASS-key® III, start vehicle. Vehicle has now learned key transponder information and PCM has now learned fuel continue password.
  7. Using scan tool, clear any DTCs.
