Setup New Body Control Module

NOTE: The Body Control Module (BCM) will not function properly if SETUP NEW BCM procedure is not performed. Perform theft deterrent re-learn procedure after successfully finishing SETUP NEW BCM procedure. If theft deterrent re-learn procedure is not performed after BCM replacement, vehicle will not be protected against theft by PASSLOCK system, and engine will not crank or start.
NOTE: After procedure has been completed, personalization of BCM defaults to a default setting. Inform customer that personalization settings must be set again.
  1. Connect a scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  3. Using scan tool, select diagnostics and input all required data when prompted by scan tool.
  4. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE.
  5. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS.
  6. Select New VIN and input all required data.
  7. Exit back to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu.
  8. Select BCM REPROGRAMMING.
  9. Scan tool will display DO YOU WANT TO SETUP A BODY CONTROL MODULE? At prompt, select SETUP BCM hotspot from scan tool.
  10. Scan tool will display: NOW SETTING UP THE NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE.
  11. When BCM has been setup successfully, scan tool will display: BODY CONTROL MODULE SETUP IS COMPLETE.
  12. Exit back to SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu.
  13. Select point of sale from this menu.
  14. Input all required data when prompted by scan tool.
  15. Exit back to SET OPTIONS menu.
  16. Select option configuration.
  17. Input all required data when prompted by scan tool.
  18. When BCM, VIN, point of sale and option configuration have been entered, proceed with theft deterrent re-learn procedure.
  19. If scan tool displays UNABLE TO PROGRAM BCM. BCM IS SECURED, then BCM must be replaced and procedure must be repeated on a new BCM.
