Vehicle Communications Unit: Installation

  1. Record 11-digit Electronic Serial Number (ESN) number from label on new part.
  2. Install VCU to bracket using clip-on strap.
  3. Reconnect cell antenna coaxial cable to VCU.
  4. Reconnect harness connectors.
  5. Secure VCU bracket to instrument panel metal brace.
  6. Press and hold "end call" button, which is a black button with a white dot. OnStar® status light will change from green to red to green.
  7. Contact OnStar® dealer support line by pressing blue OnStar® button twice. 11-digit ESN number will be needed by OnStar® advisor.
