Test A: All Power Windows Inoperative

  1. If door system diagnostic systems check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic systems check has not been performed, go to DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Operate power window system. If power windows do not operate normally, go to next step. If power windows do not operate normally, problem may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems, see PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect master window switch 6-pin Blue harness connector C1. Master window switch is located on drivers door panel. Using a test light connected to ground probe master window switch harness connector C1 terminal "B" (Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  4. Connect test light between master window switch harness connector C1 terminals "B" (Yellow wire) and "E" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to step  7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  5. Check for short to ground in Dark Blue wire between master window switch harness connector C1 terminal "D" and Center Console (CC) fuse block harness connector C2 terminal F9. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  10 .
  6. Check for an open or short to ground in Yellow wire between CC fuse block harness connector C2 terminal E11 and master window switch harness connector C1 terminal "B". If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  10 . If no problem is found, repair retained accessory power system by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - AZTEK article.
  7. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in master window switch harness connectors C1 and C2. If problem is found, go to step  10 . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  8. Repair open in Black wire between ground and master window switch harness connector C1 terminal "E". Ground point is located on right "B" pillar, under seat belt anchor. See Fig 1 . After repairs are made, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace master window switch. See MASTER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  10 .
  10. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 .
