Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM), Instrument Panel Cluster Module (IPC) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on class 2 serial data circuit. If scan tool communicates with each module, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with each module, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTC function and retrieve any BCM, IPC or PCM DTCs. Record all displayed DTCs, status of displayed DTCs and module that set the DTC. If any DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair charging system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
