DTC P1564: Powertrain Control Module Detects Rapid Acceleration: Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Perform CRUISE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . Once the test has been performed, go to next step.
  2. If any other DTCs also set, go to the other DTCs first. If no other DTCs set, or after the other DTCs have been cleared, go to next step.
  3. Since this DTC will set when a sudden rate of increase in vehicle speed occurs (i.e., vehicle speed sensing problem or traveling on icy roads) while the cruise is engaged, check with the customer to verify the conditions under which the DTC was set. If the driver's actions or road conditions caused this DTC to set, go to next step. If not, see Diagnostic Aids .
  4. Explain system operation to the customer and clear this DTC.
