CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. If driveability problems exist, see appropriate computer relearn service information.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Use latest version of scan tool cartridge
- Turn ignition switch to RUN or ON position, with engine off. Exit vehicle with scan tool. Ensure no one is inside vehicle.
- Using scan tool, read and record any active or stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTCs are not active, erase all stored DTCs. If an active SRS problem exists, DTCs will not erase.
- With ignition still on, check that nobody is in the vehicle. From outside of the vehicle, and away from air bags, turn ignition off for about 15 seconds, then back to the RUN or ON position.
- Observe AIR BAG warning light. AIR BAG warning light should come on for about 6-8 seconds, then go out, indicating system is functioning properly. If AIR BAG warning light either fails to come on, blinks on and off, or comes on and stays on, a system malfunction exists. Diagnose and repair as necessary.
