Door System Diagnostic System Check

NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any door system complaint.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communications with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication is established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Select BODY CONTROL MODULE DTCS function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate procedure in appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
- Using scan tool, check for DTCs U1000-U1305. If DTCs are not present, go to next step. If DTCs are present, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Check for DTC B1000. If DTC is not present, go to next step. If DTC B1000 is present, go to DTC B1000: CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- Check for DTCs B1339 or B1349. If DTCs are not present, go to next step. If any DTC is present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTCs beginning with a "P". If DTCs beginning with a "P" are not present, go to next step. If DTCs beginning with a "P" are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTCs B3069, B3127, B3128, B3132, B3133, B3137, B3138 or B3272. If DTCs are not present, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE article. If any DTC is present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . Repair as necessary.
