30-Minute Relearn Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not use this procedure on vehicles equipped with Vehicle Immobilizer option or Canadian Mandatory Base Equipment export option.
NOTE: Use this procedure after replacing Passkey® III ignition keys, theft deterrent control module, or Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  1. Using Black master Passkey® III ignition key, turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  2. Observe SECURITY indicator. After 10 minutes, SECURITY indicator should turn off.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, and wait 5 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps  13 two more times for a total of three cycles, or 30 minutes.
  5. NOTE: Vehicle learns key transponder information and/or passwords when ignition switch is cycled from OFF to START. Ignition switch must be turned to OFF position before attempting to start vehicle.
  6. Using Black master Passkey® III ignition key, start vehicle. Vehicle has now learned key transponder information, and PCM has learned fuel continue password.
  7. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs.
