Scan Tool Output Controls - Engine Controls

SCAN TOOL OUTPUT CONTROLS

Scan Tool Output Control Additional Menu Selection(s) Description
A/C Compressor Engine Output Controls Activates the A/C compressor relay. Normal commanded state of A/C relay is NONE. Relay status can also be monitored on the scan tool data parameter A/C Relay Command. PCM will inhibit operation of the A/C relay when ambient air temperature low enough to cause icing of the evaporator core.
Auxiliary Intake Air Control Solenoid Engine Output Controls Activates the auxiliary intake air control solenoid switching solenoid. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, the solenoid supplies vacuum pressure in order to close the auxiliary air inlet door. Solenoid remains in commanded state until cancelled by scan tool or until vehicle speed is detected.
Cam Valve Timing Engine Output Controls Activates the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve. The normal commanded state of the CMP actuator solenoid is NONE. When commanded ON, the CMP actuator solenoid is operated at 100 percent duty cycle and the engine will stall. The PCM allows CMP actuator solenoid control when DTC P1346, P1349, or P1656 are not set, The engine is running, or No vehicle speed is detected.
Check Mode (1) - - Check Mode engine operation enhances PCM's ability to detect certain engine control system malfunctions. When entering output control, the default commanded state is NONE or NORMAL. Check mode operation can be monitored on the data parameter Diagnostic Mode. PCM remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or until ignition switch is cycled.
EVAP Press. Switching Solenoid Engine Output Controls/EVAP System Activates the EVAP pressure switching solenoid. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, the pressure switching solenoid allows vapor pressure to equalize throughout the EVAP system. The solenoid remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or until vehicle speed is detected.
EVAP Purge Solenoid Engine Output Controls/EVAP System Activates EVAP canister purge valve. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, the purge solenoid operates near 50 percent duty cycle. Solenoid remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or until vehicle speed is detected.
EVAP Vent Solenoid Engine Output Controls/EVAP System Activates EVAP vent solenoid. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, vent valve switches to non-venting. Solenoid remains in commanded state until cancelled by the tool or until vehicle speed is detected.
EVAP Purge/Seal Engine Output Controls/EVAP System Activates EVAP purge, vent, and pressure switching solenoids. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, EVAP purge, vent, and pressure switching solenoids are all turned ON at the same time. After 30 seconds, purge solenoid is turned OFF, leaving vent and pressure switching solenoids still commanded ON. Vent and pressure switching solenoids remain in commanded ON state for an additional 150 seconds. Total commanded time of the Purge/Seal test is 180 seconds, unless cancelled by the scan tool or until vehicle speed is detected.
Fuel Injector Modification Fuel System Enables fuel injector to INCREASE or DECREASE fuel delivery by changing fuel injector Pulse Width (PW). PCM increases or decreases PW in 1% increments as commanded. Commanded range is from -12 to +25 percent. Solenoid remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or until engine speed exceeds 3000 RPM.
Fuel Pump Engine Output Controls Controls the fuel pump relay. Normal commanded state is NONE. When commanded ON, PCM turns the fuel pump relay ON. If engine is running, fuel pump command is disabled. The relay remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or until engine speed is detected.
Misfire Graphic - - Displays accumulated misfires occurring in each cylinder in a bar graph. Scan tool allows for a reset of the misfire graph.
RPM Control IAC System System Activates the IAC valve to change engine RPM. Normal commanded state is 27-34% duty cycle. IAC valve operation can be monitored on the scan tool data parameter IAC Motor Command. To enable RPM control, vehicle must be in Park or Neutral, and all instructions on the scan tool must be completed. System will INCREASE or DECREASE the RPM within the IAC Motor Command range of 35-90 percent. The engine speed will increase or decrease accordingly from 750-3000 RPM at approximately 176°F (80°C). System remains in commanded state until cancelled by the scan tool or when vehicle speed is detected.
Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid Engine Output Controls Activates the rocker arm oil control solenoid valve. The normal commanded state of the rocker arm oil control solenoid is NONE. When commanded ON, the rocker arm oil control solenoid is operated at 100% duty cycle and engine will stall. PCM allows solenoid control when DTC P1690, P1692, or P1693 are not set, engine is running and engine speed is less than 2500 RPM, engine coolant temperature is more than 149°F (65°C). The solenoid remains in the commanded state until cancelled by scan tool, engine stalls, , Engine speed exceeds 2500 RPM or vehicle speed is detected.
