Removal Procedure
- Open the liftgate.
- Remove the upper quarter trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Aztek) or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous) in Interior Trim.
- Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
- Upper dash pad
- Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
- Seats and carpeting
- When cutting out the quarter window use care not to damage the reveal molding (2) and locators (1) that are attached around the perimeter of the quarter window, if damaged the window must be replaced.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the quarter window.
- Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
- The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
- Use the J 24402-A ,. See Special Tools and Equipment .J 39032 or equivalent in order to remove the quarter window. See Special Tools and Equipment .
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the quarter window from the opening.
IMPORTANT:
Before cutting out a quarter window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
CAUTION:
If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.

IMPORTANT:
Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the quarter window. Do this from inside the vehicle to protect the outer painted surface.
