Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the vehicle.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Fig 1: Locating Battery Ground (Negative) Cable Bolt & Cable At Engine Block

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the engine block.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the battery cable to the conduit.
  6. Install the battery cable conduit to the conduit retainers.
  7. Install the lower radiator baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Install the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the core support.

    Tighten:  Tighten the battery ground (negative) cable at core support bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  11. Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LA1)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LY7) .
