Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery positive cable to the vehicle.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the battery positive cable and nut to the starter motor BAT terminal.

    Tighten:  Tighten the starter motor BAT terminal nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  5. Install the battery positive cable to the conduit.
  6. Install the battery cable conduit to the conduit retainers.
  7. Install the lower radiator baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Connect the battery positive cable to the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LA1)  or Generator Replacement (LY7) .

  12. Install the battery positive cable and nut to the underhood electrical center.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  14. Install the battery positive cable to the battery.

    Tighten:  Tighten the battery terminal nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  15. Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LA1)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LY7) .
