Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (LA1) or Power Steering Pulley Replacement (LY7) .
- Uncap off the power steering pump and hoses.
- Position the power steering pump to the vehicle.
- Install the power steering pump mounting bolts. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
- Install the side power steering mounting bolt (1).
Tighten: Tighten the side power steering mounting bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the rear power steering mounting bolt (2).
Tighten: Tighten the rear power steering mount bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering pressure pipe/hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten: Tighten the power steering pressure pipe/hose fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering reservoir inlet hose to the power steering pump.
- Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame and the powertrain.
- Install the rear frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement - Front (W/AWD) or Frame Replacement - Front (W/FWD) in Frame and Underbody.
- Remove the utility stand from the vehicle.
- Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
- Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
- Install the accessory drive belt to the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (LY7).
- Install the front right wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
- Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
