Liftgate Control Module Programming

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. The liftgate module (LGM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The LGM stores the information regarding the vehicle options. If the LGM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes the LGM will not control the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for the LGM programming:
    • The battery is fully charged.
    • The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
    • The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.
  2. Follow the instructions on the Techline Terminal and scan tool to program the LGM.
  3. If the LGM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
    • Inspect all LGM connections.
    • Verify that the Techline Terminal and scan tool have the latest software version.

If the liftgate module has been replaced, you must also reprogram the key Fobs.
