The idle learn procedure is required when the following service procedures have been performed:

• The battery power to the PCM has been disconnected.
• The PCM has been programmed.
• The PCM is replaced

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Diagnose and repair any DTCs before proceeding with this procedure. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List for the applicable DTC that set.
3. Ensure that all electrical loads and accessories are OFF.
4. Turn OFF the air conditioning (A/C).
5. Ensure that the vehicle is in NEUTRAL.
6. Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
7. Turn ON the ignition.
8. Clear the DTC information with the scan tool.
9. Wait 5 seconds and start the engine.
10. Run the engine at idle.
11. Turn ON the A/C and idle the vehicle in NEUTRAL for 10 minutes.
12. Turn OFF the A/C and continue to idle the vehicle for 10 minutes.
13. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.
14. Perform the powertrain on-board diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls .
15. The idle learn procedure is complete.
