Installation Procedure
- Apply GM Goodwrench Automatic Transmission Fluid DEXRON®-III, GM P/N 12378470, or the equivalent ATF, in order to lubricate a NEW O-ring (17) for the outlet port on the power steering gear.
- Install the power steering gear outlet pipe and a NEW O-ring to the steering gear.
Tighten: Tighten the flare nut to 36 N.m (27 lb ft).
- Install the 2 outlet pipes (10, 13) to the 2 power steering fluid cooler hoses. Install the 2 hose clamps (11, 12).
- Install the outlet pipe to the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose. Install the hose clamp (5).
- Install the bolt (4) in order to retain the outlet pipe to the left frame.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 6.5 N.m (57.5 lb in).
- Install the 2 clips (7, 9) and the 2 bolts (6, 8) to the 2 outlet pipes.
Tighten: Tighten the 2 bolts to 6.5 N.m (57.5 lb in).
- Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
