Removal Procedure

  1. Move the intake air duct away from the pump. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.7L.
  2. Remove the engine accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
  3. Place a drain pan below the vehicle and remove the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
  4. NOTE: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  5. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe and the flare nut (2) from the pump.
  6. Remove and discard the O-ring (3) from the high pressure port on the pump.
  7. Loosen the hose clamp (4) on the reservoir outlet hose.
  8. Remove the reservoir outlet hose (1) from the pump.
  9. Remove the 2 bolts that retain the pump to the cylinder head.
  10. Remove the pump from the cylinder head.
