Installation Procedure

  1. Properly route the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the engine compartment.

  2. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the cowl.

  3. If the vehicle is equipped with a column shift, perform the following steps:
    1. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the steering column bracket.
    2. Install the retaining clip to the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
    3. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the column control lever.

  4. If the vehicle is equipped with a console shift, perform the following steps:
    1. Install the transaxle shift cable to the floor shift control.
    2. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Aztek) or Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Rendezvous) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console
  5. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  6. Install the A/T range selector cable to the A/T range selector cable bracket.
  7. Raise the vehicle.
  8. Install the A/T range selector cable to the A/T range selector lever.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Install the retaining clip to the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
  11. Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Adjustment .
  12. Install the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
