Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Removing/Installing CKP Sensor

  1. Install the CKP sensor.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the CKP sensor studs.

    Tighten:  Tighten the studs to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the CKP sensor shield (1).
  6. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  7. Install the crankshaft harmonic balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (RPOs L26/L32) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (RPO LS4) in Engine Electrical.
  10. Perform the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure. Refer to CKP System Variation Learn Procedure .
