Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the CN2 harness connector at the power steering motor.
- Ignition OFF, test for 2-20 ohms of resistance between the exciting circuit terminal 4 and the exciting ground circuit terminal 6.
- If outside the specified range, test the exciting circuit and the exciting ground circuit for an open/high resistance or a short. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering motor.
- Ignition OFF, test for 100-500 ohms of resistance between the SIN circuit terminal 3 and the exciting ground circuit terminal 6.
- If outside the specified range, test the SIN circuit and the exciting ground circuit for an open/high resistance or a short. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering motor.
- Ignition OFF, test for 300-1K ohms of resistance between the COS circuit terminal 2 and the exciting ground circuit terminal 6.
- If outside the specified range, test the COS circuit and the exciting ground circuit for an open/high resistance or a short. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering motor.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1M ohms of resistance between the exciting ground circuit terminal 6 and the motor flange.
- If less than the specified value, test the exciting ground circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering motor.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the power steering control module (PSCM).
