Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid

NOTE: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

IMPORTANT: When checking the fluid level after servicing the steering system, bleed the air from the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Remove the engine dress cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement , or Engine Cover Replacement
Clean the area surrounding the power steering fluid reservoir cap and level indicators.

Make sure that the fluid level is at the correct level mark on the power steering fluid reservoir.
- If fluid is hot, the fluid level should be at the MAX level mark on the reservoir.
- If fluid is cold, the fluid level should be at the MIN level mark on the reservoir.
Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.

IMPORTANT: Use approved new power steering fluid from a sealed container. For fluid specifications refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .

Add power steering fluid as required, until the correct fluid level is obtained.
Install the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
