Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Hummer H2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Rear Vision System Always On
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, vehicle in PARK, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit test normal, refer to Backup Lamps Malfunction .
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
Rear Vision System Does Not Display
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm between the camera video signal circuit terminal 11 and ground.
- If less than 1.0 ohm, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the camera video signal circuit terminal 11 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm between the camera video signal circuit terminal 12 and ground.
- If less than 1.0 ohm, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the camera video signal circuit terminal 12 and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X4 at the radio.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm along the signal circuit terminal 11 to terminal 7.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, repair the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm along the signal circuit terminal 12 to terminal 6.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, repair the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rearview camera module.
Service Rear Vision Camera System is Displayed
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, vehicle in PARK, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 2 and the ground circuit terminal 3.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Park brake applied, transmission in reverse, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the body control module (BCM).
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the rearview camera image display module and disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, command the backup lamps with a scan tool.
- Test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 6-volt reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than 4.8 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- If greater than 5.2 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm between the camera video signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If less than 1.0 ohm, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the camera video signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rearview camera image display module.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the rearview camera module. Test for less than 1.0 ohm along the signal circuit terminal C to terminal 9.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, repair the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rearview camera.
