Installation Procedure

  1. Install the shift lock solenoid on the assembly.
    2. Fig 1: Locating Shift Lock Solenoid

  2. Install the shift lock solenoid retaining screws.
  3. Carefully install the shift select cover to the lever assembly.

  4. Install the shift lever control knob, then the retaining screws.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install the shift control lever assembly and mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the shift control lever assembly mounting bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  6. Connect the control cable to the shift control lever assembly.
  7. Tighten the control cable adjusting nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the control cable adjusting nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  8. Connect the harness connector.
  9. Adjust the control cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
  10. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Notchback) or Front Floor Console Replacement (Hatchback) .
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
