Removal Procedure

  1. Ignition OFF.
  2. WARNING: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. WARNING: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death, always use the jackstands to support the vehicle when lifting the vehicle with a jack.
    WARNING: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning.
    WARNING: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning Safety Glasses Warning.
  5. Remove the fuel tank assembly. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  6. Remove the primary fuel tank module assembly from the fuel tank. Refer to Primary Fuel Tank Module Replacement .
  7. Remove the fuel level sensor from the primary fuel tank module assembly. Refer to Fuel Level Sensor Replacement .
  8. Remove the fuel filter from the fuel pump housing. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement .

  10. Disconnect the fuel pump connector (1) from the fuel pump (4).
  11. NOTE: Do not push the fuel pump (4) out of the fuel pump housing (2) at the fuel pump electrical connector (6).
  12. Using a suitable tool pull at the fuel pump extension (5) to remove the fuel pump (4) from the fuel pump housing (2).
  13. Remove the fuel pump (4) from the fuel pump housing (2).
  14. Remove and discard the fuel pump seal (3).
