Electrical Connections
CAUTION:
DME ignition system voltage is extremely high. Always turn ignition switch to "OFF" position or remove battery ground cable when connecting testers or replacing system components. High voltage is also present at terminal No. 1 of CU.
- On 911 Carrera models, ensure all electrical connections are free of corrosion and securely attached. Check DME ground wires on cylinder No. 1 intake pipe and fuel filter mount. Check ground strap between body and transmission/engine.
- Check electrical plug connections on No. 14 pin plug on control plate in engine compartment and No. 6 pin plug for DME on left front crossmember (below heater blower).
- Check connections as follows:
- Engine temperature sensor.
- Speed sensor.
- Reference mark sensor.
- No. 3 pin on air regulating valve.
- No. 2 pin on idle microswitch plug.
- No. 3 pin on throttle switch.
- No. 5 pin on airflow sensor plug.
- No. 2 pin plugs on all injectors.
- No. 35 pin on DME control unit.
- No. 6 pin of DME relay plug.
- No. 2 pin of high altitude switch plug.
- On 924-S and 944 models, also check as follows:
- 9-pin connector above brake pedal.
- 4-pin airflow connector.
- 3-pin throttle switch connector.
- 35-pin CU connector.
- 2-pin temperature sensor connector.
- O2 sensor connector.
- Flywheel sensor connectors.
NOTE:
CU connector is held in place by a catch. Push catch to the right and pull off plug with a downward motion.
