Self-Diagnosis (944-S Only): Notes

The self-diagnosis with fault memory is integrated into the DME control unit. It detects and stores certain faults in the fuel injection, ignition and knock control systems in the memory.

Fault codes can be retrieved from the memory with the use of a special Tester (9268), which can be connected to a plug or diagnostic connector provided on the DME wiring harness. Codes are displayed in 4 digits on the tester. The tester can also be used to check or operate input and output functions.
