Replacing ATF

NOTE: Fill only with ATF approved by Porsche.

Filling capacity: approx. 9.0 liters 

Change quantity: approx. 3.5 liters 

  1. Remove sheetmetal brace. Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING SHEETMETAL BRACE .
  2. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.
  3. Unscrew drainage screw -1-  and drain ATF. See Fig 1 .

    NOTE:
    • Without ATF, the engine must not be started and the vehicle must not be towed.
  4. Replacing sealing ring for drainage screw and screw in screw -1-  . See Fig 1 .

    Tightening torque: 40 Nm (30 ft.lb) 

  5. Unscrew the filler screw -2-  and fill up ATF with special tool filling system V.A.G 1924 until ATF escapes from the hole of the filler screw. See Fig 1 .
  6. Move selector lever to position "P" and allow engine to idle.
  7. With engine running, top up ATF again until excess ATF emerges from the bore of the filler screw.
  8. With the brake pedal pressed, change through all selector lever positions, remaining in each position for approx. 10 s.
  9. Check the ATF level again and top up if necessary.
    NOTE:
  10. Install sheetmetal brace. Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING SHEETMETAL BRACE .
