Fast Idling Cut-Off
When vehicle speed reaches 16 MPH (manual transmission) or 15 MPH (automatic transmission), the contacts on the centrifugal switch or the computer open. The feed to the solenoid flap valve is cut off and the vacuum no longer has any effect on the diaphragm. The spring pressure then closes the valve and the additional mixture can no longer be drawn into the intake manifold.
