EGR System: Testing

  1. With the engine hot (coolant temperature above 113° F (45°C). Accelerate engine to cause a vacuum. The EGR valve diaphragm should move. If not, check the connection of the thermovalve.
  2. With the transmission in 5th gear, clutch disengaged. Accelerate the engine to cause a vacuum. The EGR valve diaphragm should not move. If it does, check the solenoid valve connection again.
