Dashpot System: Adjustments: Dashpot
- Retardation time can be altered by loosening dashpot's lock nut and adjusting it away from throttle stop (shorter deceleration time) or toward stop (longer deceleration time).
- Run engine until it is warm and check that CO reading and ignition setting are correct. Disconnect and plug ignition vacuum advance. Turn throttle lever and check that dashpot rod strikes stop at specified RPM (use a tachometer).
- Rev engine and check that engine speed drops to idling speed with prescribed delay. Reconnect hose for ignition vacuum advance.
