Dashpot System: Testing

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Install tachometer. Adjust idle speed to specification. See IDLE SPEED in SAAB SYSTEMS & TUNE-UP PROCEDURES article.
  2. Raise engine speed to 3000 RPM. Release throttle, noting time between release of throttle and return to idle. Deceleration time should be 3-5 seconds from contact with plunger.
