Ignition Coil Resistance

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove primary and secondary leads from ignition coil. Measure primary resistance between positive and negative terminals of coil. Resistance should be as specified. See the IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table.
  2. Measure secondary resistance between tower and negative terminal of coil. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. Replace coil if readings are not within specification. Individual coils are not serviceable on 9000 Series Non-Turbo.

    NOTE: All voltage tests should be performed using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in testing procedures.
