EVAP Solenoid Valve

  1. Remove connector from canister purge valve. Apply 12 volts across purge valve and listen for valve operation. If okay, restore connection and go to next step. If valve does not operate, replace valve.
  2. With ignition on, check for battery voltage at EVAP solenoid valve pin No. 2. If battery voltage does not exist, check Green/White wire or Blue/Red wire between harness connector and pin No. 87 of main relay.
  3. Unplug connector from valve. Measure resistance between valve terminals. Replace valve if resistance is not 40-60 ohms.
  4. With ignition off, unplug fuel injection ECM connector. Check Yellow/Red wire (between valve harness connector and pin No. 27 of ECM connector) for open or short to ground. Repair Yellow/Red wire, as necessary. If valve and wiring are okay, replace fuel injection ECM.
