Engine Controls - System/Component Tests: Dashpot

  1. Connect tachometer. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Adjust idle speed to specification. Refer to the appropriate ADJUSTMENTS article for specifications and idle speed adjustment procedures.
  2. Increase engine speed to 3000 RPM. Release throttle, noting time between release of throttle and return to idle. Deceleration time should be 3-5 seconds from contact of plunger.
