Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts: Introduction

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with minimum 10-megohm input impedance.

(1) Measure resistance between sensor terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and 2 (Black wire) at around 68°F (20°C).
(2) Measure resistance between both sensor terminals at around 68°F (20°C).

(1) Connect oscilloscope at MAF sensor to Green/Blue wire on 9-3 or Pink/White wire on 9-5 Series. Use scan tool to monitor air flow.

(1) Connect DVOM to ground with one lead, and backprobe Yellow/Red wire on CAAP sensor, or Brown/Orange wire on MAP sensor with the other lead
