Generators & Regulators: Adjustment/Replacement: Generator: Removal

1. Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise the car. Remove the lower engine cover. Place a receptacle under the car, connect a hose to the radiator and drain the coolant.
2. Remove the plastic nuts from the wheel arch liner. Move aside the wheel arch liner, unload the belt tensioner and take off the belt (mark the belt direction). Use appropriate belt circuit unloading tool. See Fig 1 .
3. Lower the car to the floor. Remove the upper engine cover. Unplug the connectors from the engine control module. Remove the engine control module. See Fig 2 .
4. Detach the air hose from the air filter housing. Detach the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) hose. Remove the cover of the air filter housing. See Fig 3 . Remove the air filter.
5. Unplug the connector from the pressure sensor. Detach the intake air pipe from the air filter housing and lift up the filter housing. See Fig 4 .
6. Detach the coolant hose from the engine and radiator. Bend it aside. See Fig 5 .
7. Detach the vent hose from the air hose to the throttle body and loosen the fastener in the camshaft cover. Bend aside the vent hose. Detach the generator connections. See Fig 6 .
8. Remove the generator retaining bolts and lift up the generator.
