Main task

Simtec 71.6 primarily regulates:

• Engine torque
• Fuel injection
• Ignition

A number of sensors provide information to the control module, which processes the data with the help of matrices that are stored in the control module after optimization of the engine's function. Examples of such matrices are ignition status matrices, fuel matrices and mass airflow matrices.

Simtec 71.6 is SPS programmable.

The control module can be damaged by electrostatic discharges or a short-circuit in any control module output. So, great care must be taken when handling the control module during troubleshooting or the like.

Fuel injection is primarily regulated using the mass air flow sensor. There are substitute functions for all sensors except the crankshaft sensor.
