Fault diagnosis using symptoms

When conducting fault diagnosis using symptoms, it is more difficult to determine in advance which control module should be contacted in order to read values or activate. As a result, the diagnostic tool has been grouped by function. Contact with a control module is no longer required; a function is contacted instead, i.e. a virtual control module. This means that if there is a fault in the left directional indicator, for example, you no longer need to think about which control modules are involved in the function. Simply select "Direction indicators, left" in the menu. The diagnostic tool will present values and activations from all control modules which are included in the function left direction indicators. If you should find a fault, you can see the control module from which the value has been received and then conduct fault diagnosis with a wiring diagram, for example.

Function information is available in the WIS when conducting fault diagnosis for a specific function with the diagnostic tool. The WIS contains an extra search window with the same navigation as in the diagnostic tool.
