Adaptation, resetting: Adjustment
When automatic transmission, TCM or software is replaced or updated the old adaptation data must be removed and new adaptation made according to the instructions below
- Zero the adaptation using Tech2 by going into Automatic Transmission - Activate.
- Run the gearbox to working temperature (65 - 110°C). Read off on Tech2 as per the Menu "READ VALUES
" TCM.IMPORTANT: The automatic gearbox must not be warmed up by a stall test.NOTE: Adaptation can only be made when the gearbox has reached working temperature.
- Adaptation for shifting N-D and N-R is made with the handbrake applied. If the procedure is carried out in the workshop, connect the exhaust evacuation system, start the car and run at idling speed. Shift from N to R. Allow R to be engaged for more than three seconds, then shift back to N. Repeat the procedure 5 times. Next shift from N to D in the same way as above, repeat 5 times.
- Adaptation for shifting up and down is carried out by driving. Engage position D and accelerate up to just above 50 km/h with the accelerator pedal in a constant position (approx. 15 - 20% depressed) until 4th gear has been engaged. Brake until the car stops. The acceleration must take more than 30 seconds up to 50 km/h and the braking must take more than 14 seconds. Repeat the above 5 times.
- Adaptation for manual shifting from gear 2 - 1 is carried out by driving. Engage position 3 or M2 (cars with Sentronic) using the selector lever. Accelerate up to 25 km/h. Engage position L or M1 (cars with Sentronic) and brake gently until the car stops. Repeat the procedure 10 times.
- Check that the adaptation has taken effect and that shifting quality has improved.
