WARNING: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING . Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs. Preliminary Procedure Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to STEERING WHEEL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT MODULE REPLACEMENT .
1	Steering Wheel Bolt Refer to FASTENER CAUTION . Procedure Clean the bolt threads and apply new locking agent. Tighten 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
2	Steering Wheel Procedure Disconnect any electrical connectors as needed. Loosen the steering wheel bolt until 2 to 3 threads are left engaged. Wiggle the steering wheel until it disengages completely. Remove the steering wheel bolt and steering wheel.
